One of Birmingham’s most senior agents is to step down after more than a decade in his role as regional senior director.

As from May 1st 2008, GVA Grimley’s Malcolm Gloster will retire from his current role and become a consultant for the firm, specialising in development strategy and regeneration.

Gloster will be replaced by Ian Stringer, who has been promoted and will take over his role as regional senior director at this time.

Stringer’s career with GVA Grimley spans 25 years. After joining Grimley & Son in 1983, he became a partner in 1989, equity partner in 1991, then head of agency in Birmingham before becoming national head of offices in 2000 until 2007.

Stringer has been chairman of GVA Grimley for the last three years, spending much of his time in London, especially during the period of incorporation from limited liability partnership to a limited company last year.

Stringer’s term as chairman ends in April, when a replacement will be appointed. The new role means he will be based in Birmingham full time.

He said: “With so many important schemes in the offing right now, it really is an exciting time to be focussed back in the Birmingham office market.  I’m looking forward to taking on the responsibility of senior director for GVA Grimley in Birmingham and helping to shape the future of the firm here in the Midlands.”
