GVA lifts cup after scintillating final

GVA took home the 48th annual Property Cup on 14 May after beating Cushman & Wakefield 2-1 in the final of this year’s football tournament.

C&W battled hard in one of the most entertaining cup finals in recent years, in front of 300 spectators at The Den, home of Millwall FC.

David Cohen scored the opener for GVA after five minutes, but a reply came from C&W’s Sebastian Wilson Dyer-Gough 15 minutes in. Tim Sturgess then knocked one in the net from a packed penalty area two minutes from half-time.

The contest for third place was a tense affair, pitting Lambert Smith Hampton against CBRE. At full-time the scoreboard read 2-2 after goals from Joseph Bahsoon and Jorrit Sennema of CBRE and Ian Cardwell and Andrew Saul of LSH.

But CBRE proved the most consistent in a penalty shoot-out, besting C&W by four penalties to two.

Stephen Gee, managing partner at tournament sponsor John Rowan & Partners, presented the trophies before a lively evening ensued. The competition raised more than £3,000 for CRASH, which provides assistance for improving buildings used by homeless people.
