The Gym Group swung to its first pretax profit in the six months ended June, at £3.4m.
Revenue was up 25.1%, while the number of members rose by 19.4%.
The low-cost fitness company increased its number of gyms to 80 from 63, and said it expects to meet a target of 15-20 new gym openings a year.
