Habitat opens two more stores in Germany

Furniture retailer Habitat has opened two city centre stores in Germany this month, in Cologne and Hamburg. Both shops provide about 2,200 sq m (23,681 sq ft) each and follow the opening of Habitats first German store, in Dusseldorf, two years ago.

The investment in the Hamburg store, at Neuer Wall 19, has been forward sold to the Hoechst pension fund. The property was a refurbishment originally undertaken by the German entrepreneur Jurgen Schneider, which was repossessed by the Berlin Hypothekenbank.

Alban Cooper acted for Habitat in acquiring its first three German stores. The exclusive instruction has now ended.
