Half success for cross-border negotiations over Haverhill

Half of Helions Park, a £30m industrial and warehouse scheme in Haverhill, has been granted outline consent by St Edmonsbury council.

Wrenbridge and 3i Commercial Property’s 18.2ha (45 acre) scheme, which can accommodate up to 74,320 sq m (800,000 sq ft), is nearly ready to go ahead. But the complex site is split by the county boundary, with half the scheme in Suffolk and half in Essex. The Suffolk part can go ahead, although the Essex part, near Braintree, is still awaiting consent.

Paul Bird, director at Wrenbridge, said: “It’s been a painful process because of the traffic impact assessments, the council has put us through hoops over this. We expect a decision from Braintree council next month.”

Consent has been granted on the Suffolk side, subject to a section 106 agreement.

The developers plan design and build schemes or to sell plots of land for £80,000 per acre for occupiers to develop their own premises.
