Halfords boss confident about road to recovery

The boss of Halfords, the bicycle and car parts retailer, has said that he is pleased with its progress despite a fourth profit downgrade since he arrived in January last year.
Graham Stapleton, 50, who joined from Dixons Carphone’s software business, has set out a strategy to weatherproof the retailer by boosting its services to customers.
Halfords has 450 stores in the UK, 26 upmarket cycle shops trading as Cycle Republic, Tredz, Boardman and Giant, and 318 garages. It also has eight vans used by mobile car mechanics. Mr Stapleton has said that he wants to increase the number of shops that can offer bicycle and car repairs to 1,000.
