The Halifax has released figures showing the housing marketrecovery, with the average price of a home rising by 1% last month, comparedwith April.
The country’s largest mortgage lender said prices had risen6.6% in the past 12 months, to a seasonally adjusted average of£68,298. This is just under 3% below the previousnational peak reached in May 1989. The market has been led byLondon and south-east England, while other regions have been lessbuoyant.
