The Greater London Authority has appointed Juliemma McLoughlin as assistant director of planning, replacing Stewart Murray, who left last year.
McLoughlin, currently director of planning and growth for the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, will lead the development of the new London Plan, the first draft of which is due later this year.
She will also be responsible for working with Homes for Londoners to deliver on the mayor’s commitment to increase the number of affordable homes in London when she starts in April.
Jules Pipe, deputy mayor for planning, regeneration and skills, said: “I am delighted that Juliemma is joining City Hall as she brings an unrivalled depth of knowledge and expertise to the role.
