The Shires Limited Partnership has announced the new name for its £350m redevelopment of the new Shires Shopping Centre in Leicester.
The joint venture partnership between Hammerson and Hermes has renamed the scheme Highcross Quarter ahead of its opening in autumn 2008.
When complete, the new Highcross Quarter will be anchored by a 236,810 sq ft John Lewis department store, alongside existing anchors Debenhams and House of Fraser.
Over 120 new shops totalling 333,000 sq ft are also planned over two levels; this includes five additional major stores and 40 small retail units.
Around 60,000 sq ft of cafes and restaurants will sit alongside a Cinema de Lux multiplex and 143 residential apartments.
A new 2,000 space multi-storey car park is also planned.
