A troubled shopping centre owner has hired a former executive at AIG, the insurance group, as chief financial officer.
James Lenton, 44, will oversee the finances of Hammerson, the FTSE 250 property company, in an era of declining retail property valuations as tenants close stores or reduce rents. The chartered accountant recently left AIG, where he was chief financial officer for its European business. Previously he was a partner at EY.
