Hammerson appoints new premium outlets boss

Hammerson has promoted group investment director Simon Travis as managing director of its premium outlets business.

Travis will oversee the premium outlets division on top of his existing responsibilities as group investment director. He will take up his new role once current premium outlets managing director Timon Drakesmith, also chief financial officer, leaves the business.

The REIT has also appointed Bruce Nutman, formerly a director at Time Retail Partners, as a new senior investment manager. Nutman will play a part in the landlord’s plans to reduce its debt.

Nutman’s previous roles include head of retail capital markets at Knight Frank, and head of retail and retail investment at CBRE.

David Atkins, chief executive of Hammerson, said: “Premium outlets continues to deliver exceptional results, and is well placed to take advantage of the broader trends we are seeing in the market, such as the growth in shopping-tourism, and the popularity of off-price luxury.”

Premium outlets accounts for 27% of Hammerson’s portfolio, with interests in 20 outlets across 14 European countries.
