Hammerson hires Quintain’s Tinsley as placemaking expert

Hammerson has appointed Quintain’s Sarah Tinsley as a placemaking specialist to help repurpose assets and find new ways of engaging with brands.

Hammerson said Tinsley will help it to “explore innovative opportunities with new brands and concepts that can help reshape customer expectations and engage customers in new, smart and memorable ways”.

At Quintain, Tinsley spent two years scaling the company’s consumer residential brand as part of its £5bn Wembley regeneration project. Prior to that, she worked for seven years at Whitbread Restaurants, and spent the previous six years at Red Bull, launching Red Bull in the UK as its head of entertainment marketing.

Harry Badham, Hammerson’s chief development and asset repositioning officer, said: “People are engaging with the virtual and the physical world in new ways and, for us to remain successful, it is increasingly important for us to amplify the character of our places and to communicate with our customers in innovative and relevant ways. Sarah has built brands over her career that have been at the forefront of consumer trends, using unique experiences and digital channels which we think are more relevant now than ever.”

Tinsley, now director of marketing and placemaking, added: “I am delighted to be working alongside Harry and the Hammerson leadership team to help define and deliver placemaking across the portfolio through closer collaboration with brands and customers. Our focus will be on finding innovative ways to engage with consumer brands and retail partners to generate rich experiences and content for our existing and potential audiences, which in turn will drive the reasons to connect and visit our destinations.”
