Hammerson retail parks go for £164m

One of Britain’s biggest shopping centre owners has sold two retail parks as it tries to speed up a disposal programme under pressure from disgruntled shareholders.

Hammerson, which owns or has assets in some of the largest shopping centres in Britain such as the Bullring in Birmingham, has sold Imperial Retail Park in Bristol and the Fife Central Retail Park in Kirkcaldy for £164m.

The Scottish shopping centre was bought in 2005 and is 95% let. Imperial Retail Park was acquired in 2012 and is 97% let.
