Hammerson takes control of Martineau Galleries site

Hammerson has acquired control of the six-acre Martineau Galleries site in Birmingham city centre.

The company, which already held an interest in the site, bought out partners Land Securities and Pearl Group. No amount has been disclosed for the deal, but the price it paid is thought to be around £28m.

The site is next to the proposed location of the planned High Speed 2 railway station, and the deal will give Hammerson a key role in that site’s regeneration. It will also protect its investment in the Bullring shopping centre.
