Hammerson wins planning for first Irish resi scheme

Hammerson, on behalf of the Dundrum Partnership, has received planning approval for 107 flats in Dundrum, South County Dublin.

The building will mark Hammerson’s first move into residential development in Ireland and is part of its new City Quarters concept, which creates vibrant mixed-use neighbourhoods surrounding existing flagship destinations.

The proposed residential development will consist of one studio, 50 one-bedroom and 56 two-bedroom flats for long-term rent. There would also be a ground-floor café, co-working space, gym, cinema room, lounge and terrace.

It will also provide a range of sustainable transportation measures including high-quality cycle facilities, car club spaces and electric car charging facilities.

Construction of the proposed development is expected to begin in 2020.

The Dundrum partnership is a 50:50 Allianz and Hammerson joint venture that owns and operates Dundrum Town Centre.

Simon Betty, Hammerson Ireland director, said: “Our City Quarters concept will see Hammerson transform our city venues beyond pure retail into successful neighbourhoods providing homes, workspaces, hotels and accessible public realm.”
