Hammerson’s retail tracker shows sales up 0.5%

Retail sales across Hammerson’s shopping centres rose by 0.5% in July, according to the company’s retail tracker.

Sales of jewellery rose by 2.7%, led by sales of expensive watches.

Separately, a survey by Springboard showed footfall over the bank holiday weekend had fallen 4.1%, partly as a result of the weather.
