Hampshire meets Dallas in oil exploration site with JR appeal

Lively interest from speculators with a nose for “black gold” should spark keen bidding when lot 194 – an oil exploration site guided between £350,000-£400,000 – goes under the hammer at Clive Emson’s auction on 15 April.

According to auctioneer Kevin Gilbert, this is a “difficult lot to value”. The 11.5-acre site for oil exploration, extraction and storage in Crawley Down, Hampshire, is leased to Star Energy for 22 years from September 2007 at £51,000 pa with three index-linked reviews.

He added: “It’s good value for money, with a healthy return for value on the guide price. It should appeal to JR Ewing-types.”
