Hampton in massive Brum centre project

Hampton Trust and Carlton Communications have drawn up plans for a huge mixed scheme in central Birmingham on the former Central Television site next to Argent’s Brindleyplace in Broad Street, writes EGi’s Philip Smith.

The companies own most of the 2.4ha (6 acre) site and have agreed to work together on a 111,000m2 (1.2m sq ft) retail, office and leisure development. The project may include Birmingham’s tallest building, totalling 41,805m2 (450,000 sq ft) and Holiday Inn is interested in relocating the Crown Plaza hotel into the tower. The parties are talking to Birmingham city council. Richard Ellis is advising the developers.

  • Scottish Widows is selling Snow Hill House in Birmingham to Sir Robert McAlpine and Business Homes. They plan a 5,574m2 (60,000 sq ft) office scheme. Grimley is acting for the fund. Grenville Smith & Duncan is representing the buyers.
