Hampton Trust is planning a £300m development in Birmingham which would include Britain’s second largest skyscraper.
The development comprises more than 92,900 sq m (1m sq ft) of lettable space. It includes 400-bedroom hotel, residential apartments, offices, an ice rink, cinema, sports centre, casino and theme rides. The Arena Central scheme would have a centrepiece in the shape of the 200 metres (656ft) high City Tower towering over Centenary Square in the heart of the West Midlands city.
Birmingham City Council must still approve the plans. It has a market capitalisation of £30m. The scheme is the third large scheme to be announced in the city. Hammerson and Land Securities are also working up projects.
