Distribution company Power Europe has chosen Powergen’s Hams Hall Distribution and Manufacturing Park in Birmingham as the location for a new 27,240 sq m (293,219 sq ft) storage and distribution centre to service its Birds Eye Walls contract.
The US company shortlisted three Midlands sites last June: Hams Hall, Gazeley’s Magna Park at Lutterworth, and Wilson Bowden’s Interlink at Jctn 22 of the M1. It submitted planning applications at all three locations before opting to build at Hams Hall.
Power Europe’s President Charles Mory said; “Birds Eye Walls and Power Europe are in no doubt that the West Midlands is the distribution hub of the UK and there is no better site in the UK to service our needs.”
The amount paid for the site has not been disclosed. The new facility will be completed in Spring 1999.
DTZ Debenham Thorpe is letting agent on Hams Hall. Colliers Erdman Lewis acted for Power Europe.
