Hanson’s Imperial Park retail scheme, south Bristol, clears final planning hurdle

Hanson Properties’ proposals for the redevelopment of the former Imperial Tobacco factory site in south Bristol as 30,657 sq m (330,000 sq ft) of retail floorspace has cleared the final planning hurdle with the granting of full planning consent by Bristol council.

The scheme was called in for consideration by the DOE and was cleared to proceed by Environment Secretary John Gummer in June 1995.

Construction of the scheme on the 15.24ha (37.6 acre) site, which overlooks the Avon Ring Road in south Bristol, should start towards the end of the year.

Joint agents for the development – to be known as Imperial Park – are King Sturge and Healey & Baker.
