Harbourside plans redrawn

Market pressure has forced Bristol’s Harbourside consortium to revise the framework for its £400m city-centre development.

David Skinner of Chesterton, consultant to the city council-led consortium, said new guidelines were being drawn up for developers shortlisted for the 27,870m2 (300,000 sq ft) first commercial phase: British Land/ Crest Nicholson; Taylor Woodrow; London & Metropolitan and Berkeley Group; and Trevor Osborne Property Group.

The developers are sceptical of plans for 60,000m2 (645,855 sq ft) of offices, and would prefer to mix leisure, housing and offices on the 26ha (64 acre) site.
