A masterplan framework for 1,200 homes opposite Tottenham Hotspur FC’s stadium, N17, has been agreed by Haringey council.
Arup-designed plans for the 27-acre High Road West site also include a 53,820 sq ft public square, shops, park and sports and leisure facilities.
Some buildings would need to be redeveloped to make way for the regeneration, and all secure council tenants on the affected Love Lane Estate would be guaranteed a home in the new development.
The council agreement follows a consultation launched in September. Nearly 85% of residents living on the Love Lane Estate, and 69% of everyone who responded, backed plans for the homes.
Councillor Alan Strickland, cabinet member for housing and regeneration, said: “This is such an important step in the regeneration of Tottenham and I’m pleased to have the support of hundreds of residents as we reach this milestone.”
The council will now work to secure a development partner for the project, which is subject to planning permission.
