Harry Hill joins EasyProperty

Rightmove founder Harry Hill has been appointed non-executive director of Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou’s new business, EasyProperty.

Hill’s appointment comes some nine months after he left Movehut . The shock departure came less than a year after he became a non-executive director of the company.

Online company EasyProperty will focus on the rented sector before moving into sales, it is understood. It will connect landlords and tenants directly.

EasyJet founder Haji-Ioannou will be brand partner for the firm. Robert Ellice, who has some 20 years experience in the residential market, will be chief executive.

Ellice said of the non-executive appointment: “Harry brings years of experience and incredible industry knowledge.”

Hill was previously chief executive of Countrywide for 20 years, a founder of Rightmove and then a director through to its initial public offering in 2006 when the business was valued at £425m.

Ellice said the new firm – due to launch this summer – would “offer an alternative to the high street estate agent”.
