Harworth sells 40 acres in Yorkshire to housebuilders

Harworth Group has sold four parcels of land covering 40 acres in Yorkshire to housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Barratt.

The sites will deliver 547 family homes at two separate schemes in Doncaster.

Harworth sold two parcels at Pheasant Hill Park in Doncaster spanning 14.9 acres to Taylor Wimpey.

The housebuilder has planned 172 three- and four-bedroom homes over the next two years, in what will be the third phase of the scheme.

In a second transaction, Harworth sold a 13.2-acre site at Pheasant Hill Park to Barratt Homes for the fourth phase of the scheme, which will see 184 three- and four-bedroom homes, also to be delivered over the next two years.

The third sale at Harworth’s Riverdale Park development in West Doncaster saw Barratt acquire a 11.4-acre site, for the construction of 191 homes, of a range of sizes and tenures for first-time buyers and larger families.

Peter Henry, regional director for Yorkshire & Central at Harworth, said: “These deals demonstrate the continued demand for our engineered land product from housebuilders, with Barratt and Taylor Wimpey being regular repeat customers of ours over a number of years.

“We are particularly pleased with the sale of land at Riverdale Park, which represents Harworth’s first sale of non-former Colliery land, as well as the continued strength of the residential market in Doncaster.”

The scheme at Pheasant Hill Park has outline planning for 1,200 homes, with more than 150 already built and completion expected by 2027.

Harworth acquired Riverdale Park, the former McCormick Tractor factory site, in 2015 and has outline consent for 600 homes and 250,000 sq ft of commercial space. Completion is expected by 2026.
