Hatt leaves Capita Symonds

Nelson Bakewell’s former chairman Mike Hatt is leaving the business, just over a year after he led the sale of the agent to Capita.

Hatt said he had finished the integration of NB Real Estate with Capita Symonds, part of the FTSE 100 outsourcing group, and would be taking a break before looking for new opportunities.

He described his departure as a “logical step”.

Capita Symonds finalised the £20m takeover of NB Real Estate in February 2010.

NB’s 45 shareholders – including Hatt – were paid £10m upfront for the business, which had 562 staff. An additional deferred payment of up to £10m was payable on the achievement of certain performance targets.

Capita Symonds’ real estate business is led by executive director Mark Norris. Hatt was made deputy executive director last year and tasked with heading the strategic growth of the new division in the UK and international markets. The NB name was dropped in November.

Hatt will now become a consultant to both Capita Symonds and Capita Group.

Norris said: “We were very keen for Mike not to leave until the integration was complete and that has now happened. Obviously we are delighted that he will be staying on as a consultant.”
