Helical Retail and Midlands-based Oswin Developments have won a four-year battle to develop a £40m retail and industrial park to the north of Luton, Bedfordshire.
The 100,500 sq ft Hatters Way Retail Park has gained detailed consent after long-running issues relating to the scale of the retail offer and local council demands for employment use were resolved.
The scheme comprises 80,000 sq ft of A1 non-food shops in six stores, 25,000 sq ft of B1, B2 and B8 industrial, a car service centre and 350 car parking spaces, on an 8-acre former truck-stop site at Chaul End Lane, one mile from junction 11 of the M1.
