Havering Council and Wates Residential have submitted their first plans for the £1bn regeneration project in Romford, east London.
The joint venture partners will seek to deliver 3,000 homes across 12 separate council estates over a development timeline of 15 years.
Proposals for Napier and New Plymouth House in Rainham include 126 affordable homes and 71 homes for private sale. The first phase will also include a children’s play area and public green space.
The development has been designed by architects JTP. The demolition phase is expected to begin shortly and will run alongside the planning process.
Havering council leader Damian White said: “This project will provide much-needed quality, affordable homes for local people in our special borough. It will leave behind a legacy of skills, training, jobs and aspiration which goes far beyond just bricks and mortar.”
Kate Ives, development director for Wates Residential, said: “The Napier and New Plymouth House site will be a place to be proud of and will set the standard for high-quality housing across London.”
