HB Reavis has sealed its first green loan, borrowing £138m from HSBC to refinance its Bloom Clerkenwell office scheme.
The developer said the two-year loan recognises the EC1 site’s BREEAM Outstanding accreditation, EPC rating of A and goal to be net zero carbon in operation. The deal refinances funding put in place last year by BentallGreenOak.
David Stephens, head of real estate finance at HSBC UK, said: “With the importance of sustainability continuing to grow as a key market driver, we are working closely with our customers to provide a wide range of green financial solutions that help them deliver ever more sustainable developments.
“This deal sees HB Reavis raise the bar for environmentally friendly workspaces, as well as creating a building that supports employee health and wellbeing.”
