HBD readies plans for £140m Manchester tower

Developer HBD is to lodge proposals for a £140m office scheme in the St John’s District of Manchester.

The Colloco project, designed by EPR Architects, will span 200,000 sq ft of workspace across 16 floors.

The building will feature flexible offices on each floor as well as a roof pavilion, events space and access to a garden terrace. There will also be a cycle storage facility with e-bike charge points and showers.

The tower will sit on the corner of New Quay Street and Gartside Street, which was home to Manchester College before it relocated to its new campus last year.

Colloco is targeting the highest levels of sustainability credentials including a BREEAM Excellent rating and a 5.5-star accreditation for NABERS UK.

Adam Brady, executive director at HBD, said: “We wanted to create a building that provides a positive impact to Manchester’s community but one which also meets the needs of a modern and progressive work culture. Colloco is a different prospect to the sterile and corporate offices of yesteryear.”
