HCA unveils new housing targets

The Homes and Communities Agency is aiming to see the completion of 30,000 new affordable homes in 2014-2015.

The target is part of HCA’s new plan to increase the scale and speed of housing delivery over the next four years.

It also wants a further 22,500 affordable homes brought up to a decent standard.

Targets for 2014 to 2015 include 9,500 new private homes and 3.4m sq ft of commercial space.

To achieve the plans, the government body will concentrate on bringing surplus public land and assets to market.

It will release enough land by 2015 to support development of more than 16,000 new homes.

Andy Rose, chief executive of the HCA, said: “This plan confirms priority areas of focus for the HCA and what we plan to achieve. It also clearly sets out our approach to local delivery and the many ways in which we will continue to support our local partners.”
