Earlier this year, Healey & Baker introduced the TISL Faxstar message-handling system to reduce the fax congestion in its central London offices. An additional aim was to improve the efficiency of this area of its client communications.
Fax messaging was originally handled by five units in H&B’s, two offices near Hanover Square, W1, plus its sites in Savile Row, W1, and the City. Daily, these offices generate some 1,500 outgoing messages and 500 incoming messages.
TISL’s Faxstar was purchased as part of its new Ericsson MD 110 telephone system. Now H&B has many more fax numbers serving individual departments (known as DDI units), but has not had to increase the corresponding number of telephone lines. All the fax units are linked to Faxstar, which stores and forwards outgoing communications, as well as receiving and distributing incoming traffic.
“The system provides far easier access to a fax machine, which significantly improves staff productivity,” said H&B’s director of information technology, David McGregor. He added: “Even if an outside fax is engaged, the message still goes to Faxstar for automatic transmission at a convenient time.”
Faxstar can also be used for archiving messages and to provide an audit trail. It will send faxes via the least-cost route (BT, Mercury or private) and it supports a wide range of PC LAN interfaces.
