Heatherwick’s King’s Cross retail unveiled

Argent coaldrops

Argent has unveiled a first look at the Thomas Heatherwick-designed retail revival of the Coal Drops buildings in the heart of its 67-acre King’s Cross regeneration, N1C.

The Heatherwick Studio proposals will be submitted to Camden Council imminently.

A statement from Argent said the Coal Drops Yard project would secure the long-term future of the historic Coal Drops building and establish the area as a retail destination with close to 100,000 sq ft of shopping, eating, drinking and events space.

The buildings were originally built in the 1850s to receive freight arriving from the north of England by train and were later used for warehousing and light industry.
