Helical Retail has submitted an outline planning application to Cornwall council for a £30m 90,000 sq ft retail and leisure scheme.
Truro City Shopping Park will include 75,000 sq ft of ground floor, non-food retail space, plus 5,000 sq ft of cafés and restaurants, along with an 11,000 sq ft leisure facility and 305-space car park.
The development is planned for the site of Truro City football club, the proceeds from which will include a substantial payment to provide for the club’s future on an alternative site.
The application is expected to go before the council’s planning committee in March.
Helical Retail managing director Jonathan Cox said, “There is considerable demand for space in this area from retailers who are keen to come to Truro but cannot find suitable accommodation in the centre itself. This scheme is edge of town so offers flexibility not available elsewhere locally.”
