Utilities company Severn Trent has selected a Helios Europe and Shepherd Developments joint venture to bring forward a 7m sq ft logistics park in Derbyshire.
The jv beat competition from Gazeley, Goodman and Prologis to win the race to develop the rail-connected hub.
The scheme will include several mega-sheds of around 1m sq ft.
Severn Trent is in talks with South Derbyshire district council over its plans for the 620-acre site between Etwall and Eggington in South Derbyshire. Proposals for the land were originally mooted in 2008, but were mothballed because of the recession.
They have also faced opposition from campaigners claiming that the development will have a negative impact on surrounding villages in terms of flooding risk, traffic congestion and visual impact.
Helios Europe and Shepherd Developments are also jointly developing the 5.8m sq ft £400m rail-connected Rossington Inland Port in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The partners are working with SEGRO on the scheme.
