HelioSlough submits final plans for 1.1m sq ft of warehousing

HelioSlough has submitted a detailed planning application for 1.1m sq ft of speculative distribution space at sites in Yorkshire and the North-East.

The joint venture between Helios and Slough Estates wants to develop 700,000 sq ft of warehousing in two units at Wynyard One in Teesside.

It is hoped that the first, 300,000 sq ft building on the 38-acre site will be complete by the end of the year.

The partners have applied to construct 400,000 sq ft of logistics space at Sheffield International Railfreight Terminal (SIRFT), including a rail terminal.

They hope to commence work in summer with a completion date earlier this year.

Mike Hughes of Helios said: “The distribution market is moving northwards and we identified these sites as having huge potential.

“Our decision to build speculatively shows we are extremely confident in the attractiveness of both locations. We are already in early discussions with potential occupiers.”
