Help to Buy keeps profit rolling in for first-time specialist Persimmon

Britain’s second largest housebuilder has shrugged off worries about a slowdown in the property market to report a 13% rise in profits.

Persimmon said that pre-tax profits had risen to £516.3m in the first six months of this year, on the back of a 5% rise in revenue to £1.85bn, as it continues to benefit from the government’s Help to Buy scheme.

However, it warned that a sudden end to the scheme could provide a shock to the housebuilding industry in less than three years’ time.
