Hemingway submits plans for City tower

Plans for a 23,225 sq m (250,000 sq ft) office tower (pictured) in the City have been submitted by Hemingway Properties

The private developer, which is owned by ABP, the Royal Bank of Scotland and PRICOA, wants to build the 16-storey tower on an island site in EC3 which it bought last year. The site is bounded by Mark Lane, London Street, New London St and Hart Street.

Steve Jobburn, investment director at Hemingway, said that the scheme showed “really inspirational architecture” and would be a “spectacular addition to the City”.

The design for the tower was drawn up by Rab Bennett of Bennett Associates.

Construction is expected to begin in 2003 when the leases on the existing buildings expire. Hemingway is currently in talks with two other freeholders on the site, who are expected to take a percentage of the development.

Strutt & Parker is letting agent, while Jones Lang LaSalle is advising on planning issues.
