Henley appoints ex-Blackrock boss

Private equity property firm Henley has appointed Jeff Morton as chief investment officer.

Morton joins from Blackrock, where he was managing director and head of investments for its £2bn flagship UK Real Estate Fund.

Ian Rickwood, founding partner and chief executive said: “Jeff’s appointment brings 25 years of both institutional and Property Company experience to our firm.

“He will complement existing Henley Partners’ strengths and will help drive our current ambitions to grow Henley’s assets under management rapidly.”

Rickwood added that Henley expects to announce a capital-raising programme in the near future for the Henley Deep Value Commercial Real Estate Fund: “This will target total returns at a premium above IPD All Property forecasts. We expect to utilize current and new client capital to make prudent contra-cyclical investment plays, in order to take advantage of short-term mispricing in certain commercial sectors of the market. We will continue to follow the Henley rigorous underwriting and implementation process to successfully carry out this strategy” he said.

Henley focuses on commercial property in Scotland, England and Wales, and currently has £175m of assets under management.
