Henley plans hospital conversion

blueprints-construction-generic-THUMB.jpegHenley Homes is due to submit a planning application to convert the Grade II- listed former Barnes Hospital in Cheadle, greater Manchester, this month.

Built in the late 19th century, the hospital was used as a convalescent home for wounded soldiers in World War II.  It was closed in 1999 and has since deteriorated.

The project will be known as Barnes Village and will offer a mix of new houses and apartments over two and three storeys.

Henley Homes associate land director Phil Kapur said: “We are very pleased to be involved in the development of the former Barnes Hospital, Cheadle. There is a strong interest from the local community to see the site brought forward and the hospital restored.

“Henley Homes is coming to this project with a depth of experience in both volume new-build as well as conversion and regeneration of listed buildings, including a Grade II Listed former school building and a Victorian maternity hospital.”
