Spinningfields in Manchester will get its first hotel after KE Hotels and Henry Boot Developments received planning permission for Silk Works.

Silk Works Spinningfields TOO SMALL FOR MAIN PIC SLOTThe nine-storey scheme will sit behind the existing façade on Atkinson Street, creating a 58,800 sq ft, 145-bedroom hotel operated by Moxy by Marriott.

Construction is due to start within the next six months.

Moxy launched its first hotel in 2016 in Milan, Italy, and debuted in the UK in December last year at Aberdeen International Airport. It is described as a “millennial-focused boutique hotel concept”.

Dean Thompson, regional manager for HBD in the North West, said: “The Silk Works is a beautiful heritage building, so it will be great to see it back to its best and bringing something new to the city.”

NJL Consulting is advising on planning and ICA Architects is the appointed architect for the scheme.
