The chairman of Henry Boot is stepping down after more than 40 years with the company.
Jamie Boot will retire on 26 May after the company’s annual general meeting. Non-executive director Peter Mawson will then become the group’s new chairman.
Boot joined the company in 1979 and was appointed to the board six years later. He was group managing director from 1986 to 2015 and was appointed chairman in 2016.
Chief executive Tim Roberts said: “The board, and the entire team at Henry Boot, want to thank Jamie for his outstanding contribution over, by any standards, a remarkable period of time. On a personal note, it has been a real pleasure working with Jamie and I am thankful for his leadership and support.”
Mawson has been a board member since 2015. His previous roles include group chief executive of Donaldson and chief executive of the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation.
In turn, Joanne Lake will become senior independent director. Her previous role of deputy chair will not be filled.
