Henry Boot sale kicks off 4,000-home Didcot scheme

Henry Boot has sold 2,170 residential plots in Oxfordshire to its project partners Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes.

Henry Boot’s Hallam Land Management business has owned more than a half of a 440-acre site in Didcot, 10 miles south of Oxford, since June 2013. The reminder was owned by Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon. The three parties secured outline planning permission for 4,254 homes in February.

Nearly 1,500 homes will be affordable, which forms 35% of the entire scheme, including assisted living accommodation, a special educational needs school, and an extensive section 106 package providing funds for healthcare, biodiversity, public transportation, a library, off-site sport and leisure facilities, as well as public artworks.

Tim Roberts, chief executive at Henry Boot, said: “With this transaction, we have continued to make strong headway towards HLM’s annual revenue and profit target, which stands at over 60% of our 2022 goal. We are also well on track to meet medium-term growth objectives thanks to a strong housing market and HLM’s continuously replenished landbank.”
