Sheffield-based Henry Boot Developments has agreed to sell its 35,000 sq ft Courthouse office refurbishment scheme on Manchester’s Deansgate to one of the city’s oldest mutuals for £4m.
The Oddfellows friendly society – which was formed in 1810 and has 120,000 members across 151 branches – has committed to buying the scheme for its own occupation.
Henry Boot is in the process of refurbishing the Grade II-listed building to include offices, retail and leisure space. The society will occupy 17,000 sq ft of the offices within the scheme, which will be completed in the summer.
Ian Ditchfield, property investment manager for The Oddfellows, said: “The Courthouse is a beautiful building that fits well with our heritage. It will provide the society with a modern, flexible office space with which to take its 200-years’ experience of making friends and helping people into the future.”
Christopher Dee acted for the Oddfellows; DTZ and Matthews & Goodman acted for Henry Boot Developments.
