Henry Boot to sell HQ and relocate after 90 years

Henry Boot has signed for a new headquarters in Sheffield city centre as it puts its home of 90 years up for sale.

The company has taken 12,800 sq ft across the top three floors of the Isaacs Building on Charles Street, built in the early 1900s by paper-hanging merchant David Isaacs and recently refurbished. The building is part of Sheffield’s Heart of the City development, which will create 1.5m sq ft of repurposed buildings.

The company once had a head office close by, but for the past 90 years has been based at Banner Cross Hall, on the edge of the city. Knight Frank will now market the building and its 10 acres of grounds for sale.

Henry Boot is making the move following a strategic review of the business in response to the post-pandemic working patterns of its staff.

Henry Boot chief executive Tim Roberts said: “Banner Cross Hall has been a great home for us over the last 90 years, but as a progressive and forward-thinking business, we recognised change was needed to support the evolving needs of our people.

“It was incredibly important to us to remain based in Sheffield. We are actively involved in several of the projects underway in the city and recognise the vital importance of the regions in delivering long-term growth for the UK.”
