Hero TSC takes former Egg HQ

Outsourced call centre operator Hero TSC has confirmed it will take over the former Egg headquarters building on Pride Park in Derby, East Midlands.

The deal which signed overnight is for Hero TSC to create up to 700 jobs in the city on behalf of its client Sky. Hero has taken 150,000 sq ft of the 300,000 sq ft site. It is believed the firm is interested in the other half of the space and could double its presence on the site next year.

The transaction is one of the largest regional office deals in the UK to sign this year.

David Turner, Hero TSC’s chief executive, said: “We start the recruitment drive immediately with the intention of having the centre fully operational by early next year.”

Egg’s previous owner Citigroup sold the credit card business to Barclaycard earlier this year, while Yorkshire Bank acquired the savings division. Citigroup and Barclaycard shared the same site at Pride Park, but it was announced in June that Barclaycard would not continue its operation in Derby and would move its operations to its Kirby and Northampton sites.

CBRE advises Citigroup; Jones Lang LaSalle is advising Hero TSC.
