Heseltine confirms Bristol’s biggest ever office deal as Bristol & West takes Temple Quay site

Deputy prime minister Michael Heseltine has announced that Bristol & West is taking land at English Partnerships’ Temple Quay in Bristol for a new office headquarters. The site was formerly known as Quay Point.

Speaking during a visit to the city this morning (Friday), Heseltine confirmed the deal which finally kick-starts the £150m scheme planned for the 7.7 ha (19 acre) site next to Temple Meads Station.

The building society is taking 1ha (2.6 acres) where it will build 25,083 sq m (270,000 sq ft) of offices in two phases, with the first stage starting on site next year.

EP will invest around £7m in site infrastructure, which will include the replacement of the notorious temporary flyover close to the site – which has been in place for almost 20 years – with a roundabout.

On another part of the site, Castlemore Securities has been appointed to build 4,645 sq m (50,000 sq ft) of speculative offices and a shop and restaurant scheme. In future, the developer will bring forward phases of development with English Partnerships.
