High-street prices fell again in June

Prices charged by high-street stores fell in June for the 26th month in a row, dropping 1.3%, a survey by the British Retail Consortium showed.

Furniture retailers and DIY stores reported the largest fall, and were the main factors behind a near 2% drop in non-food prices. Food prices fell 0.4%.

Sales discounts are in evidence at a number of high-street chains, with offers of up to 75% off normal prices.
