KPMG has completed a deal for the remaining 28,500 sq ft of space at Highcross’s 300,000 sq ft Broad Gate scheme in Leeds.
KPMG will take the space on a ten-year lease to service product development and tax-related back office functions. Rents at the building are between £23 and £24 per sq ft.
The new signing – one of the largest in Leeds this quarter – leaves the office element of Broad Gate fully let after 25,000 sq ft was let to Capgemini and 76,400 went to the Yorkshire Building Society earlier this year.
KPMG has also agreed a 15-year prelet for 61,250 sq ft at 1 Sovereign Square, on the southern edge of the city centre.
Highcross bought the block in 2008 from Capital & Counties for £70m and started a renovation of the building the following year.
The fit-out operation will begin in January next year.
Colliers, DTZ and CBRE are marketing Broad Gate, while Knight Frank acted for KPMG.
GVA director Ben Hall said the letting showed Leeds was continuing to attract a range of occupiers.
He said: “It will put further pressure on the remaining Grade-A supply, which could well lead to an increase in headline rents and a fall in incentive packages.
“It’ll be interesting to see if any landowners in the city decide to grasp the nettle now and build speculatively.”
