Highgrove Group has received planning permission for the development of up to 2.5m sq ft of distribution and industrial space in Gateshead near Newcastle.
The site (pictured), located south of the Follingsby Park development, will offer units ranging from 200,000 sq ft to 2.5m sq ft with 28-metre eaves to allow for high-bay distribution.
Highgrove said it expected fully serviced plots to be ready for development by the end of the year.
Martin Gannon, leader of Gateshead Council, said: “Follingsby Park serves as the North East’s stand-out logistics and distribution park and is a much sought-after and successful development.
“The new scheme will play a key part in supporting the region’s economic growth strategy and cement Follingsby Park’s reputation as the premier distribution park in the North East.”
David Price, operations director of Highgrove, added: “We are already seeing significant interest in the development from a variety of potential end-users, including online retailers, manufacturers, distribution/logistics and automotive companies and look forward to making further announcements soon.”
